July 1 - 19, 2013
On Monday the 15th of July, I finally went back to see my surgeon. Unlike our past visits, he was in a chatty mood and very complimentary about my progress. The x-rays, range of motion and healing of the incision all got rave reviews. Next was the removal of 110 staples. Since the staples came out, I can almost see daily improvement. We had hoped to be on our way back to Gotta Smile this week or next, but I have to see the doctor again on August 5th. New physical therapy begins immediately. Looking forward to seeing what I can do.
Living in anyone else's house for an extended time, is challenging. No harsh words or problems so far, but we long for our tranquil life on board. This house is like a three ring circus! Jennifer and Ian are both pilots. Their trips keep them out of town for two to seven days frequently overlapping each other. That leaves us in charge of JAC (4) and Christopher (7). When one or both of them are home, there is a constant stream of company visiting. We love them to pieces and their friends, but we are definitely feeling our age!
Just to had another dimension to this mix, I decided that I needed to shed some pounds. A friend had great success with the Medifast program so I started it on Tuesday. In the brochure it warns that the first four days are the most difficult and you may experience irritability. They weren't kidding! I think Brian noticed that my fuse was growing short. He took JAC to school and he and Christopher went to the Transportation Museum! God bless Christopher for going to a museum (that I would have hated) and God bless Brian for giving me a day of quiet tranquility.
Gotta smile -- we're lovin the ride!
Christopher's Cub Scout pack made cardboard pine wood racers for the 4th of July parade. He and Brian worked for days perfecting it. The pack won first prize for their division. A hot 2.5 mile walk. |
